Roelof Vos

Roelof Vos is a partner at Hertoghs Advocaten, a Dutch boutique law firm specialised in white collar crime cases, Tax fraud and Tax litigation.

Roelof’s career started as a Tax advisor working for Ernst & Young. After three years Roelof started working for Graham Smith and Partners where he, in 1994, decided to switch from advising to litigation. Over the past 20 years Roelof has worked as a tax attorney at companies like Arthur Andersen and VMW Taxand. In 2014 he joined Hertoghs Advocaten in which firm he specialises in indirect taxes. His main focus at Hertoghs Advocaten is on expanding tax litigation practice in the fields of VAT and customs. Roelof also is MFN mediator and a negotiation specialist.


‘My client’s interests come first, And I protect these interests through negotiations, where possible, and fiercely in lawsuits, where necessary”.


Roelof is a board member of the Dutch Tax Attorneys Association (NVAB), a board member of the Association of Tax Mediators (VFM) and a board member of the association for corporate growth (ACG).  He teaches Moot Court at Leiden University and Tax litigation at the Dutch Tax Advisers Training Foundation (SOB). He also is co-editor of BTW Bulletin (Kluwer).

Roelof studied tax law at Groningen University and is currently working on PhD research at Tilburg University on the subject of ‘fiscal neutrality in indirect Tax’.
